Dr Odwa Mazwai currently serves as the Managing Director of Universal Care (Pty) Ltd. Having qualified as medical doctor from Walter Sisulu University, he has a keen understanding of the pressing need for equitable and sustainable healthcare in South Africa. To that end he has immersed himself in the discussion around AI in healthcare. Dr Odwa still holds a keen interest in clinical medicine and the impact of poor health on people, and our healthcare systems. His passion lies in the realization of access to quality health care without compromise for the citizens of Africa.

Prof André van Niekerk
Dr Nilesh Patel has proven expertise and experience in the delivery of efficient and effective healthcare services. He has spent over two decades developing and managing value-based healthcare services within the South African public and private healthcare sectors. He started his career establishing the first acute stroke unit in South Africa at Groote Schuur Hospital and the University of Cape Town in the mid-nineties and later developed the first value-based (outcomes-based) acute rehabilitation unit in the private sector. He work extended to developing a network of acute rehabilitation and mental health units within the private healthcare group. He spent 10 years in an executive general management role at large private healthcare group where he was responsible for acute rehabilitation, acute mental health, renal dialysis, occupational health, employee wellness, chronic mental health, and frail care as well as clinical governance and quality. He is currently Group Chief Medical Officer at Lenmed, the largest independent private hospital group in South Africa, where he is responsible for Clinical Governance. July 2024.
